Currently Loving {Leather Bags and Memorial Day Getaways}

With Memorial Day weekend arriving soon, I have been thinking about what exactly I would like to do during my three days of freedom. A few ideas that I am hoping to accomplish:
  • Make a delicious meal: I really want to take the time to experiment in the kitchen. And now, with better produce out and barbequing being acceptable, I thought I will try this avocado and tomato salad:
Avocado and Tomato Salad
1 container cherry tomatoes, cut in half
1 carton fresh mozzarella cheese pearls, drained
1 avocado, peeled and diced
1/3 cup basil, julienned
2 tablespoons fresh parsley
1/4 cup lemon juice
1/4 cup olive oil
salt and pepper
baguette-optional

  • Get outside! I have been researching for a great place to go on a day hike. Wallace Falls near Stevens Pass is 5.5 miles round trip and offers beautiful views! Could also be a great hike for a beginner like myself.

And a few new things I have added to my wish list, (well, maybe wishful thinking)...

  • It's just another necklace. My jewelry obsession has gotten a little out of control. It's not that I need another dainty necklace to wear day-to-day, but I love the current styles from Dogeared. I especially love the Pearls of Wisdom style.

Currently Loving {Magazines, Magazines, and More Magazines}

This week, I have somehow found a obsession for magazines, what's new! But a few of my new favorites currently are:
Anthropologie's May 2011 Catalog: They have done it once again, great European scenery, fabulous interiors as usual. It's like looking at a work of art.
Wedding Magazines: I promise, I am NOT engaged! But my blonde best friend Caity Dietz got engaged last weekend! Reading through The Knot and some of the other popular publications was the best way to kill an afternoon today.
Rue Magazine: New to the press, Rue Magazine is the best combination of lifestyle, design, and fashion. It has definitely been on my reader list the past year.

What's your favorite magazine you're currently reading?

Accessorize, Why Don't You!

I seem to go in phases of what my style is, classic, bohemian (with a twist, as my friend likes to say), or preppy. But despite all the changes that may be occurring when it comes to my wardrobe, one thing will remain the same. You can never have enough accessories! And now that spring is here, my hair no longer sits like a mop on my head in rainy Seattle, there are a few accessorizes that I have to rave about this season:
1. Mix and Match Stones
It is so easy to throw on a turquoise ring but why not add some other stones with it. Bring pops of color to an outfit. Dress it up or dress it down.
2. Head Scarves
It may be my love for hiding some frizz on a rainy Seattle day but I love the look of a headscarf right now. I feel like I would see a lot of these on a beach in the 1960's.
3. Anything and Everything Tangerine
I am probably one of very few humans whose favorite color is tangerine orange. Although I grew up having an orange accessory everywhere in sight, I never thought I would see it as a style trend.

What's your favorite accessory for spring?

Currently Loving {Pictures and Jicama}

The two things I have fallen in love with over this past, busy week:
1. Pinterest: The easiest way to find new and interesting photos. You can "repin" photos onto your own profile and save them for later use, or you can share photos with friends on Twitter or Facebook. Pinterest even allows you to categorize photos so it makes it easier to keep track of them. Come find me as a friend!
2. Pineapple and Jicama Salad: I fell in love when I first tried this on Cinco De Mayo. Skip the greeen salad one night and try this fresh take:

Salad Ingredients
  • 1 small to medium jicama, diced
  • 1 fresh pineapple, diced
  • 1 bunch green onions (5-7), diced
  • 1 small to medium red onion, diced
  • 4 tablespoons cilantro, chopped
Dressing
  • ½ cup safflower oil
  • 4 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
  • 2 teaspoons honey or agave syrup
  • 1 teaspoon sea salt
  • ¼ teaspoon cumin
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
Shockingly (for me at least,) this is a vegan recipe! Follow the link for the full recipe.

Currently Loving {Royalty and Photos}

What a fantastic week! Here are my top five wonderful things I have discovered (or re-discovered) this week:

1. FxCamera: I have secretly been extremely jealous of all of my iPhone friends who are able to use the Toy Camera feature on their photos. The vintage look of modern-day photos is incredibly striking and I have been looking for an Android app that would allow me to do this. I finally found FxCamera that allows me to do Toy Cam, Fisheye, and even an Andy Warhol special effect.

2. Chromeo: Thank you for contributing to my spring dance parties.

3. Royalty: I know all of us bloggers cannot stop raving about the royal wedding last friday, but it really was like watching a fairy tale come to life. And not to worry, there's always Harry.

4. Double Rings: First skeptical about having my fingers attached to one another, I finally stepped up, got my own, and am really becoming a fan.

5. Nike Free Run:
Feeling a little under the weather this week, I dressed down a little more than I usually do and rocked this babies quite a bit. OOPS!
