Enjoying More Beautiful Roman Sites

It has been another busy and hot few days in Rome. Last night, we headed over to the beautiful Piazza Novana and enjoyed some Gelato. After a trip to the breath-taking Pantheon, we ate another rustic Italian meal and of course sipped on a little vino.

Kristiano has continued to inform every other American tourist that we meet that we ARE from Rick Steves' home town. Judging by most other tourists' reaction, they DON'T care.

This moring we walked to the Borghese Gardens to visit the Borghese Gallery. It was a gorgeous day and luckily a bit cooler. Here are a few pictures from today.

Notice the napkin bandage on her right ankle--battle wound.

i saluti da Roma

We are taking a quick afternoon break from the hot sun in our hotel room, so I thought I would do a quick update:

It has been a busy 2 days in Rome thus far. After getting in late Saturday night and enjoying our first rustic Italian meal, we got some good sleep and arose the next morning to visit ancient Rome! After a wonderful tour of the Coliseum from a great Italian who explained to us why Italians love the word Amor (Roma spelled backwards), we sweat in the hot sun on Paletine Hill and through the Forum.

Last night we took a stroll down the Piazza del Popolo to the Spanish steps and then got a little lost trying to find a place for dinner. The wonderful Jane Olsen has taken the nickname, Mrs. Rick Steves, being our personal tour guide after almost memorizing his book. Kris Olsen can now be know as Kristiano after becoming best friends with another Kristiano, our waiter, last night.

We stopped by the Trevi Fountain on the way home.

Of course we had to fit in some good Gelato, and we are probably going back for more tonight. There is literaly an ice cream place on every corner here...heaven!

This morning was another early one as we took the metro to Vatican City to visit the Vatican museum, Sistine Chapel, St. Peter's Basilica and St. Peter's Square. The highlight of this morning would have to be seeing Kiersten's face after she was pooped on by a Pidgon. Pictures to come.

Tonight we are going to visit the Pantheon and hope to get lost on a few more charming streets in Rome!

I am starting to feel that European fever!

Until next time...Arrivederci Bella!

Let The Adventure Begin!

Phrasebooks, check. Sketch book, check. Maps, check. Two weeks worth of clothes to fit into one carry-on suitcase, struggle.

Today I embark on a two-week European adventure with my family. We will be traveling to Rome, Florence, Paris and London.

I don't know what my Internet access will be like along to trip but I hope to update family and friends on all of our fun and adventures that we may run into!

Feel free to keep checking my blog for new posts!
